Course Orientation Introduction

Orientation Topics

Before we begin the course, all participants are required to complete a mandatory orientation. These sessions are essential because they help set the tone for everything we’ll be doing together.

During orientation, we’ll take time to thoroughly explore key topics that are designed to help you understand the purpose of this program, what’s expected of you, and most importantly—how to get your mindset in the right place for growth and success.  We want to make sure you understand what RADL stands for, why this program matters, and how it can help you make a stronger future for yourself moving forward.

This isn’t just about rules or information—it’s about helping you think differently, make better choices, and begin a journey of respect, accountability, discipline, and love. We want to make sure you start this course focused, open, and ready to take positive steps forward.

You’ll have the chance to ask questions, speak your truth, and get the support you need from the very beginning. This is your starting line—let’s make it count.

Day Two: Building Character & Connection

Day 2 Agenda: Setting the Tone for Success

 Welcome & Opening Session

 Being Real, Being Ready

  1. Help Them Grow to Be Better
Your words and actions have power. Learn how to lift others as you climb.

  2. Show Up When You’re Supposed To
Responsibility starts with being dependable. Your presence shows your priorities.

  3. Stay Away from Toxic People
Not everyone wants the best for you. Learn how to spot and avoid bad energy.

  4. Be Different
Don’t follow the crowd—lead it. Stand out by making wise, bold choices.

  5. Be Willing to Listen
Growth happens when you stop talking and start taking things in.

  6. Listen Before You Speak
Think first, speak with purpose. You’ll be surprised how much this earns you respect.

  7. Always Be Kind
Being kind doesn’t make you weak—it makes you wise, respected, and remembered.

  8. No Fighting
Violence creates more problems than it solves. Learn smarter ways to deal with conflict.

  9. Try to Understand the Other Person
Even when you disagree, take time to see where someone is coming from. It changes everything.

  10. Be Iron That Sharpens Others
Surround yourself with people who challenge you to grow—and be that person for someone else.

  11. Don’t Put On a Show and Go to Jail
What’s real isn’t always loud. Don’t throw your future away trying to impress the wrong people.

  12. Dress for Court (Life Lesson)
First impressions matter. If you ever have to stand before a judge, let them see someone who takes life seriously—not someone playing a role. Dress and carry yourself with self-respect.

 Wrap-Up & Reflection

  • Group Discussion: “What did today teach me about how I represent myself?”

  • Journal Prompt: "If someone followed my example, where would I be leading them?"

  • Closing Encouragement: The way you walk through the world speaks louder than your words—make it count.
